Coffee Galley

2020-2022

Coffee Galley was a Shopify app I made as my first real app project. The idea was to give Shopify merchants an easy way to add custom-label coffee products to their stores without dealing with roasting, packaging, labels, or fulfilment.

All they had to do was upload their logo. The app would create 3D renders of the packages, create the Shopify products, and handle all communication with the roaster so fulfilment and delivery happened without merchant intervention. Everything was fully automated.

It basically provided dropshipping for coffee brands.

The front end was made with the Shiny framework, the backend was made with Plumber, and all data management was handled with either SQL or .rds files. Which means everything was made in pure R code. This gave me the excuse to present at a few conferences about the unexpected use cases of R outside statistics. You can do anything with R. Should you, though? Probably not. But you can.
